Abstract The acene series, an important class of linearly polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, are interest owing to their unique physicochemical features. With increase in the number fused benzene rings, acenes display evolution electronic structure and properties. Thus, efforts have been devoted synthesis longer acenes, with dodecacene being longest (12 rings) reported date. However, formation polymeric numerous namely polyacene, has yet be realized. Herein, we present a methodology for polyacene mediated by metal–organic framework.
